play safe! be safe!® is a multimedia fire safety education kit designed specifically for preschool age children. Winner of the 1997 Best Curriculum Award from Early Childhood News, a journal of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, play safe! be safe! provides early childhood educators with an engaging set of tools to help teach fire safety to young children.

Since its introduction in 1994, BIC Corporation has distributed more than over 80,000 kits, and has sponsored training workshops in nearly all U.S. states and Canadian provinces. The workshop provides an overview of children's understanding of fire and the best practices for teaching fire prevention and life safety. The workshops are presented by Dr. Robert Cole, Associate Professor at the University of Rochester Medical Center, President of Fireproof Children and nationally respected authority on fire safety education. In 1997, BIC Corporation and Fireproof Children received the Rolf H. Jensen Partners in Public Education Award from the National Fire Protection Association.

An online supplement to the kit, with interactive games and activities, can be found at www.playsafebesafe.com or in French at www.jsuisprudentjsuiscontent.com. Kids can also play the online version of the Keep Away!® card game at www.keepawaygame.com.

"I truly enjoyed this program/workshop. What positive reinforcement! I will surely integrate this every other month into my curriculum because my children love everything that has to do with fire or firemen. I will share this with many children. Thanks for choosing Boise. Dr. Cole was quite a motivational speaker. I truly enjoyed his visit."
Shelly, preschool teacher, Boise, ID
