- The characteristics and motives of young children who start fires
- The preschool child's capacity to understand fire
- Fire prevention for preschool children
- Teaching preschool children life safety skills
- Involving families in fire safety
Each play safe! be safe! kit includes a 20-minute video (in English, French Canadian and Spanish) featuring "Firefighter Dan," four sets of colorful story cards, a dress the firefighter activity board, a safe for play! keep away! activity board, a Keep Away!® card game and a comprehensive teacher's manual.
The kit addresses four objectives:
- Go to the Firefighter
- Stop! Drop! And Roll!
- Crawl Low Under Smoke
- Matches and Lighters are Adult Tools
