Community Fire Safety Workshop
Grant Program Application Guidelines

The local sponsor is responsible for ensuring attendance (mailing of invitations) and providing an appropriate location, local publicity and necessary audiovisual equipment (see below). Each applicant is asked to provide the following:

1. A letter addressed to play safe! be safe! requesting a workshop and identifying the primary local sponsor. Please give us a brief description of your organization, including how many are in your membership, and how many of those members are expected to attend the workshop.

2. Letters of support from community agencies that would co-sponsor and help facilitate the workshop. These letters should include a description of their organization, how many in their membership and how many of those members are expected to attend the workshop. These might include your local or regional chapters for Head Start, Safe Kids, Red Cross or NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children). Participation of co-sponsors is essential for meeting this goal. Letters of support are critical evidence of the host's ability to ensure cooperation among community agencies. They provide an indicator of broad-based community support, a key criteria for selection as a workshop site.

3. An indication of where the workshop will be held. The site must be able to accommodate the workshop and must provide appropriate audiovisual equipment.

Application materials are reviewed as they are received. For additional information, please contact Fireproof Children at (585) 264-0840. You may also email them directly at info@fireproofchildren.com. We would be happy to assist you with the application process.

"The program was wonderful. The delivery of information was great. It made you think about things from a child's point of view. Having the psychology field evaluation I believe made the information better. The choice of words used in the video is great. It will help me give better talks with children in the future."
J.R., fire safety educator, Louisville, KY
